Northeast Iowa Area Agency on Aging Strengthens Commitment to LGBTQ+ Older Adults through SAGECare Partnership
Northeast Iowa Area Agency on Aging (NEI3A) proudly announces its achievement of receiving a SAGECare credential. This prestigious credential is a testament to NEI3A’s unwavering commitment to providing an inclusive and culturally competent environment for LGBTQ+ older adults.
SAGECare awarded NEI3A with its SAGECare credential after training that included assessments of policies and practices that provided education on inclusiveness, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity.
“We are thrilled to partner with SAGECare in our shared mission to improve the lives of LGBTQ+ older adults,” said Mike Donohue, NEI3A Chief Executive Officer (CEO). “At NEI3A, we are dedicated to creating a community where every individual is respected, valued, and celebrated for who they are. The credential reinforces our unwavering commitment to fostering an inclusive environment that prioritizes the well-being and dignity of all community members.”
The SAGECare credential process evaluates older adult living communities based on various criteria, including non-discrimination policies, staff training on LGBTQ+ cultural competency, community engagement, and resident support services. By meeting and exceeding these standards, NEI3A has demonstrated its commitment to promoting an equitable and supportive environment for LGBTQ+ older adults.
