Who We Are
Northeast Iowa Area Agency on Aging, or NEI3A, is a private, not-for-profit corporation serving individuals throughout 18 counties in Northeast Iowa. At NEI3A, inclusivity is our guiding principle. We are committed to creating an environment where every individual's diverse perspectives, backgrounds, and abilities are acknowledged and celebrated.
What We Do
NEI3A serves as the critical entry point for customers to begin the process of navigating available resources through information and assistance, as well as more in-depth help through options counseling.
Today’s aging population faces many challenges. Northeast Iowa Area Agency on Aging, or NEI3A, is dedicated to advocating for older persons and their caregivers. We coordinate services to help them remain in their homes and vital members of the communities in which they live. The dedicated employees and volunteers who work each and every day to provide nutrition services, case management, information and assistance, evidence-based education, and places to socialize and interact with others have earned NEI3A a strong reputation in the communities we serve and throughout the state.
NEI3A serves the following counties in Iowa: Allamakee, Black Hawk, Bremer, Buchanan, Butler, Chickasaw, Clayton, Delaware, Dubuque, Fayette, Grundy, Hardin, Howard, Jackson, Marshall, Poweshiek, Tama, Winneshiek.
As the agency embarks on new challenges and a growing need for those needing assistance, NEI3A will continue to remain focused on providing choices and fulfilling the needs of the people we serve, doing what we do best – empowering older individuals to age with dignity and independence.
National Centers
Two NEI3A programs have a nationwide scope. Both are funded by grants from the U.S. Administration for Community Living (ACL): the SMP National Resource Center and the State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP) National Technical Assistance Center. NEI3A’s national centers serve SMPs and SHIPs nationally as central sources of information, training and technical assistance. They also serve as a resource to members of the general public and also to 1-800-Medicare by providing online SMP and SHIP locators.
