Walk with Ease
EVENT DETAILS
The Arthritis Foundation is bringing its proven Walk With Ease program to the community this summer. Designed to reduce the pain and discomfort of arthritis while improving overall health, this evidence-based program will be held at Farley Memorial Hall, 204 1st St. NW, Farley, Iowa, from July 14 through August 21, on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
Developed by the Thurston Arthritis Research Center and the Institute on Aging at the University of North Carolina, Walk With Ease is more than just a walking program. It combines walking with health education, stretching and strengthening exercises, and motivational strategies to help participants increase their physical activity levels safely.
Extensive research has shown that the Walk With Ease program:
- Reduces arthritis-related pain and discomfort
- Improves balance, strength, and walking pace
- Builds confidence in being physically active
- Enhances overall health
This program is offered for individuals 60 and over at a suggested contribution of $25. Participants will receive a Walk with Ease guidebook along with support and guidance to help them walk comfortably, safely, and confidently, no matter their current fitness level.
Deadline to register is July 9.
