Healthy Steps for Older Adults – Maquoketa

EVENT DETAILS

👟 Take Steps to Prevent Falls!

Did you know that 1 in 4 adults age 65+ experiences a fall each year? Falls can make it harder to stay active, complete everyday tasks, and maintain independence. That’s why Northeast Iowa Area Agency on Aging (NEI3A) is bringing the Healthy Steps for Older Adults class to Maquoketa!

This evidence-based program for adults age 50+ focuses on simple, practical ways to reduce fall risk and stay safe at home and in the community. Participants will learn about:
✔️ Proper footwear
✔️ Home safety tips
✔️ Nutrition for strong bones
✔️ The importance of regular exercise
✔️ Easy at-home exercises to improve strength and balance

📅 Monday, April 20
9:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
📍 Hurstville Interpretive Center
18670 63rd Street, Maquoketa, IA

🥪 Lunch will be provided, and participants will receive a program handbook.

💲 A suggested voluntary contribution of $25 helps support the program, and scholarships are available for those who need assistance.
